I wouldn't say this was the best thing I had to eat today (although come to think of it, it is the only thing I've eaten so far today...), but I just had an eighth of a huge pummelo, a new to me fruit. The frigging thing weighed three pounds whole.

I hate grapefruit. Any and all kinds.
This...

I could actually eat.
On occasion.

Doing a search, I see an alternate spelling in Pomelo.
But, from what I am seeing on my search, I think my store mislabeled the fruit, and it may have been an oroblanco instead.
I can't find how large an oroblanco gets. But the pummelo we had did not have the slightly peaked top the images of the pomelo I am finding have, and it looked more like the oroblanco.

Just ate some Belgian milk chocolate with tea. The chocolate was a Christmas gift from a co-worker.

For New Year's, with the big hockey game on TV, we had make your own submarine sandwich night. We bought buns and a variety of sliced meats and cheeses, along with vegetables. Everyone pigged out. :)

*jumping up and down*

A real Jewish-style deli has opened in Gator Town!!

I no longer have to either eat second rate versions of lox or whitefish, or have such severe cravings when I go home that we spend $100 dollars at Deli Den! And just in time for my 21st wedding anniversary.

It's not fancy, but guess where we celebrated a day early!
Yayayayayay!!!

Cool, Menolly. I checked out the website. I see that TooJay's operates solely in Florida. So, anyway, what makes a deli a Jewish-style deli?

At the moment, I'm eating chicken balls from the local deli. Nothing special, but I love chicken.

I guess Jewish-style would mostly be classified as "eastern and central European" and "North Sea" - style deli.
But, you would see bagels offered more frequently than rye bread.
Chicken matzah ball soup instead of borscht.
Smoked meat and fish (say tongue and lox) over herring.
...although rye bread, borscht, and herring are generally available.

You most likely would not see sauerbraten, wurst (except beef knockwurst), or spaetzle, to differentiate from a German-style deli, for example...

I had no idea that there are so many kinds of delis. In this part of the country good delis are usually just called "New York style delis" with no Jewish, German, North Sea etc. qualifiers. :?

This one is ours:

We just call it a New York style deli - but kind is it really, Menolly? :?
