Is not today, but last night I did a roast leg of pork, with roast potato, roast butternut, gemsquash, apple sauce, and of course my beloved gravy.

It is a cold and cloudy autumn day. I have had a cold (caught from my younger son) for a few days now. What could be better on a cold cloudy windy day in the autumn when you have a nasty cold than hot tea with lots of sugar?

The directions call for adding additional sugar to taste. Trust me, it's not needed.

Tried A&W's new sirloin "Uncle" burger today. It was nothing special. Messy and not as flavorful as their Papa burger, which remains my favorite.

I have not used it for over a month now, but during the summer I used it about 2-3 times a week to make smoothies. Though the appliance is designed for multiple uses (and comes with a recipe guide), I just couldn't be bothered to make anything more complicated than a smoothie. But I was quite happy with the machine purely as a smoothie-maker.

Tonight's best thing to drink was exceptional. A bottle of the Watch's Malik23's home brew. He posted a of it decanted into his tulip glass in The Galley on the Watch.

I wrote a of my experience with it in Malik's beer thread in The Galley. All I will say here is...wow.

Nice big Mexican dinner (burrito, enchilada, tostado) with honey and cinnamon soaked sopapillas with vanilla ice cream for dessert.

Mmmm, Mexican food....

Last night I made orange beef stir-fry from a Weight Watchers recipe. I froze the leftovers for lunch and brought one of the containers to work with me today.

I heated it up in the microwave and brought it back to my desk, and my neighbor said, "Wow, what smells so *good*?" It *was* pretty tasty. And not hard to make.

Cali got white fish with vegetables and I got cheese stuffed canneloni

vanilla bean custard garnished with fresh raspberries

fresh guacamole with chips
tacos
refried beans
Spanish rice

we used another of those $30 off restaurant coupons Friday night, at Bella Ciao Trattoria in Ann Arbor.

drink:
pinot grigio wine and goblets of ice water

appetizers:
creamy risotto with leeks and goat cheese
lentil soup

entrees:
fresh pasta with lamb meatballs and fresh vegetables
veal with fresh vegetables

dessert:
tiramiso

in contrast, we had chicken nuggets and french fries at home last night

Today we off to a good start with home made waffles for breakfast.
