One of the better/funner vampire books I have read in...years. I have become really really sick of the urban fantasy/paranormal romance emo pretty boy sex machine vampires as featured in far too many books such as those by Laurell K. Hamilton and Karen Chance and others of that ilk. This book has vampires that are truly monstrous parasites, and that was a really cool change of pace!
Co-Written by the film director Guillermo del Toro and horror author Chuck Hogan, this book was a fun combination of medical thriller, science fiction, and horror.

It is also the first book in a trilogy, with hints and promises that the later books will feature a war between cadres of master vampires for control of America and humanity.
Fast paced and fun, with the possible extinction of mankind and the destruction of New York hanging in the balance.
