| Post subject: | what can you tell me about Joe Hill? |
I keep hearing good stuff about a new horror author named Joe Hill. I hear his short story collection 20th Century Ghosts is very good, as is his novel. Heart-Shaped Box, which is supposedly about a rock star and a ghost? 
Has anyone here read him? Is his stuff indeed really good, or is at a lot of hype?

He's been getting nominated for all the awards, and he's been getting a lot of good press. Must be something behind it. Joe Hill is actually Joe Hillstrom King, Stephen King's son, but he was smart enough not to advertise the fact and built up his career on his own merit before it was made public knowledge. I've heard enough good about him to believe he's better than Stephen King, though (whose writing I'm admittedly not keen on). I have Heart-Shaped Box on my to-read pile, and they've recently published the collection here as well which I may purchase. |
