I am now reading the short story The Shadow Out of Time by H. P. online. Very wild and terribly entertaining--astounding stuff 4 the years in which it was written!! Any reference in his works 2 the town of Arkham, Miskatonic University and The Necronomicon always bring a smile 2 my face!!! The true human being is the meaning of the universe. He is a dancing star. He is the exploding singularity with infinite possibilities. <i></i> |

Hello, all! I've never read Lovecraft but feel I have to with all the good things being said! has anyone read Guy de Maupesaunnt? The spelling of his name is not quite right, He was a French horror writer in The 1800s. A collection of his short stories is well worth buying if you come across one. <i></i> |

Murder on the Rue Morgue and others? He is quite interesting---along with Poe, the art and life of William Blake and some strange Sir Richard Burton and Aelister Crowley accounts...They made a cool movie about de Maupassant, himself, in the 40s or 50s didn't they? The Dreamquest is also one of the best, but I truly like all of his stories. With quite a bit of effort, I've managed to collect nearly every article and short story he ever published. Still a few to go however. I thought his attempt at scifi with In the Walls of Eryx was an excellent original work for 1935 <i></i> |

Just wanted to say Hi to all the other Lovecraft fans. The first story I read was "Call of Cthulu" when I was in high school and I was hooked. My favorites (so far) are: The Dunwich Horror The Haunter of the Dark The Dreamquest of Unknown Kadath (meep!) I have not had the pleasure to read the Red Hook story. Kadath fans! I love it! Randolph Carter is my hero! Lorien welcome! The Horror at Red Hook is my personal fav--doesn't sound strange coming from someone w/intense claustrophobia-maybe that's why it scared the "meep" out of me! I'm not so much into horror -- I hate slasher flicks and the like, so Danlo challenged me to read some Lovecraft. If I read The Dremquest of Unknown Kadath he agreed to read a book by Roger Zelazny that has a lot of Lovecraftian influences, called A Night From the Lonesome October. I had read Lonsesome October a couple of months ago and had absolutely loved it. Well, I have finished Dreamquest! And I enjoyed it! It didn't have a lot of gross violence, which I dislike. But it was still good and creepy -- and very, very imaginative. (meep) Parts of the main story made my mouth drop open, like when the ship sailed into space...and I loved the parts dealing with the cats and the zoogs. I also particularly enjoyed the short story called The Strange High House in the Mist.
