Post subject:  Mercedes Lackey - Diana Tregarde Mysteries

Lately I have read three books by Mercedes Lackey featuring the character of Diana Tregarde - professional romance novelist, white witch, and supernatural Guardian of the innocent.

I am finding them to be gritty, and for the most part, enjoyable.

In Children of the Night, Diana faces murderous beings from Japanese legend, as well as vampires who kill by feeding on people's emotions while helping out a friend in NYC.

In Burning Water, Diana faces violent cult killers and the avatars of ancient and bloodthirsty gods in Dallas. Of the three, I liked this one the most - the mystery aspects of the plot were very well done, and the killers were highly creepy (to say the least).

In Jinx High Diana tries to help the high school aged son of an old friend, when mysterious supernatural goings-on threaten himself and his classmates in their suburban high school. Of the three, I liked this book the least, as it featured some very unpleasant and spoiled rich teens and I actually did not care what was happening to them.

Diana herself and many of her old friends are all very interesting characters, facing interesting challenges. ******************************************************
