Well, the vampires in Kim Newman's Anno Dracula are fabulous, though not particularly scary (sequels are The Bloody Red Baron and Judgement of Tears). Also great are the Lamea in Tim Powers' The Stress of Her Regard, but they're not the traditional type of vampire. Has anyone read The Golden by Lucius Shepard? I've been meaning to for ages - you gotta figure Shepard would have a cool take on the blood-suckers. <i></i> |

I ahve not read the Shepard one...I read one a while back called Mina (whose author I can't remember) which was pretty good -- it told the struggle of one of the original Dracula's victims to try to return to the normal, restricted life of a Victorian Englishwoman... George R. R.
