Ahira's Hangar

Ok, so it is Halloween and one of my friends, who happens to be Chinese American, dressed up as a mythical Asian character named the Monkey King. She was shocked that I had never heard of him, and she told me that he is very cool, a story beloved by many Chinese children, and that he is a great martial artist who kicks evil ass.

So here begins my quest to learn more about the Monkey King.



I may add more as I have time to explore a bit.

Has anyone else here heard about this legendary kicker of evil butts?

The blurb at Amazon claims that this ancient legend was the inspiration for Dragonball Z!

Nah, never heard of it, although the "format" of the story is familiar.

Of course, it's possible that he was based on the Hindu monkey god - Hanuman.
