Do you think that it's been a long enough time for that stress to build up? Although, that said, recent evidence has apparently been suggesting that evolution might not be as slow a process as we'd always thought. Saw some interesting stuff on tribes in the Palau that appear to have been rapidly changed by their environment. --A |

I don't believe the world will end in 2012. Here is a fact you can all set your watch by.... If I'm wrong there won't be anyone around to tell me I was full of crap and that is so unlikely that it can't be calculated with advanced mathmatics so therefore the world is safe from extinction. nuff said |

Meh...I'm pretty much of the same opinion. Although, the "end of the world" isn't the same as human extinction of course. --A |

The bugs and the animals and whatnot will know...so will the things that evolve in whatever time is left before the eventual and inevitable death of the Sun. But I mean that the world may end and still leave people around. What I hope for is the mere fall of civillisation. As for the tree, it depends what you mean by sound...the falling tree will produce sound waves. But if sound is only those waves when translated by and ear/brain combo... --A |

Oh fine, Av, get all scientific on us, why don't you. If Tolle and the others are right and we're heading into a new worldwide consciousness, that would be pretty cool. (Tho I've got a list of things I'd like to see incorporated into that new worldwide consciousness that would make the conservatives over in the Tank cringe. ) If, otoh, the world really *does* end in 2012, those folks who stocked up on toilet paper are out a lot of cash for no reason.... I voted no, btw, for the reason MM stated. This certainly isn't the first time somebody has predicted the Apocalypse, and so far we're still all here, for good or ill. |

Hahaha. Yeah...and on the other hand, I feel almost instinctively that we are on the brink of some great and fundamental change...the crux as it were. Not of the end of the world, but maybe a change in the way we perceive and interact... --A |

From what I've seen, it's not the end of the world, it's actually the beginning of the last epoc in the Mayan calendar, and this epoc will bring a different view of things. But I don't believe it. Still interesting. |
