I had no idea this was the 6th time Kate Winslet was nominated for an Oscar, and that this was her first win. Don't know why I thought she had won before. In any case, it's nice to see her win. I've liked Kate ever since I first saw her in Sense & Sensibility.
Yes, Ledger's Oscar win is bittersweet. His dad and sister(?) were very eloquent in their speeches.
Frost/Nixon interests me the most, mainly because I've never seen that famous interview.
I think that, aside from the awards, the most meaningful part of the show is when they remember those in the industry that passed away in the last year. Charlton Heston, Roy Scheider and Paul Newman were the big names that stood out to me. But seeing all the names of the departed brings a sense of closure, and of recognition to those who toiled behind the scenes to make the movies we love.
