Has anyone else been catching this on the History Channel?
There are these diamond mines way up near the Arctic Circle in Canada. The only way to get large equipment, supplies, etc. up to them is for the stuff to be trucked in over frozen lakes in the winter. The rails and roads stop in and around Yellowknife, so in the deep of the Arctic winter, roads are plowed over the frozen lakes for the oversized big rigs to make their deliveries.
It is incredibly dangerous, as the trucks weigh
a lot, carrying heavy mining equipment, etc. And if they break through the ice, the drivers will pretty nearly instantly die from the cold water.
The Canadian truck drivers are crazy. And every other word out of their mouths is a cuss word.
Some of them even carry guns and shoot at each other's trucks as warnings not to get so close.
The weather and driving consitions are even crazier.
Wild and weird, yet oddly compelling stuff...
