Hmm. I might have read The Alienist. If it's the book I'm remembering, it was good. |

I picked up two new books for the Kindle this week. The Mahabharata, from Sanskrit literature, and Scipio Africanus: Greater Than Napoleon, by B.H. Liddell Hart. |

Ye gods I haven't posted in here in ages-well, I'm reading Deadhouse gates now but just finished an outstanding non-fiction called Three Cups of Tea about an American who has been building schools, primarily for girls, in Pakistan and Afghanistan since around 1998 (how he remained alive after 9/11 is a miracle in and of itself)-Greg Mortensen (who founded the Central Asian Institute) is not only THE consummate anti-terrorist but should be awarded the frikin' Nobel Peace Prize! Amazing story! |

Mortensen spoke at Magickmaker's school last fall. She said he was pretty cool. |

American Conspiracies by Jesse Ventura. Haven't been this depressed since I read Heritage of Stone by Jim Garrison in the mid 70s. <grin> |

In the Company of the Courtesan by Sarah Dunant, historical fiction set in 1520's Italy. It is different...a beautiful courtesan and her best buddy and companion, a little person surviving the Sack of Rome and moving on to Venice. The story is told from the dwarf's point of view. |
