I cast my vote for Harrison Ford -- SW Episode IV, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (he and Sean Connery were SO GREAT together: "Daaaad!!"), Witness, Regarding Henry. Six Days, Seven Nights was kinda stupid, but the worst Harrison Ford movie I think I ever saw was Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom -- if only Kate Capshaw could've stopped screaming every five seconds, it wouldn't have been as bad.... Harrison Ford was also in a Mel Brooks movie, early in the career of both -- he played a gunfighter to Gene Wilder's Eastern city slicker. Can't remember the name of it now, but it was funny. (Not as funny as "Young Frankenstein", though, but then it's hard to find a movie as funny as "Young Frankenstein" -- one of my all-time faves!)

Oh, oh, dumbest confession of love onscreen ever was in a Star Wars movie:

Princess Leia to Han, as Han is about to be lowered into the cryogenic soup: "I love you!"
Han: "I know."

Blazing Saddles, perhaps? U didn't like Witness!!!??? Carumba!! I agree w/u on 6nites tho, don't tell Tamara tho--she likes that movie--the pirates were xtremely corny and any movie that has David Schwimmer (Ross in Friends) in it, 4 some reason, always stinks!!! Quote: Princess Leia to Han, as Han is about to be lowered into the cryogenic soup: "I love you!"

I love that line!! ..

Geez now there's an angry linch mob after me ..

Foamy Foamy Foamy .. I never intended to injure you .. you are my fav giant .. and a fav fellow Watchmen .. albeit lacking in good taste when it comes to actors LOL (kidding!)

I have never seen X-files .. I saw Evolution .. which may have coloured my opinion of DD .. I saw him in another B-grade movie .. some time ago .. that was particularly forgettable .. and that's it.

I maybe dont like him for the same reason Richard Gere is not a fav .. though Gere is maybe a notch higher in comparison .. but just a notch!!

Maybe after I sit through all your X-file videos I will appreciate DD more than I do now .. not really ever seeing him act 'really' well in anything before ..

*pats .. (((Foamy)))

Well, that explains it...you've never really seen him act. I'll forgive you. Go watch some X-Files, though.

Some of my current favorites (no particular order):

Harrison Ford
Sean Connery
Heath Ledger
Russell Crowe
Will Smith
Carey Grant
Tommy Lee Jones
Denzel Washington

Russell Crowe has greatly impressed me with roles in such films as Gladiator and Master and Commander; my hub calls him a thinking man's action hero.

Heath Ledger is a talented young actor with incredible promise (and he certainly doesn't hurt the eyes, either). ******************************************************

But now Ledger's slated to play the Joker in the next (Bale) Batman? *****

Gregory Peck should be on my list, too. Great actor, classy human being. ******************************************************

Gregory Peck was definitely one classy individual.

My list of favorite leading men more or less jives with danlo's and duchess's.

I would also add Paul Newman and Robert Redford. Two classic Hollywood stars who are good actors, too. Not just pretty boys.

I'm a bit surprised that no one has mentioned Tom Hanks. For a stretch in the '90s and into 2000, he was my favorite leading actor by a wide margin. Consider the major films he was in during that period: Philadelphia, Forrest Gump, Apollo 13, Saving Private Ryan and Castaway. Wow! These rank among my all-time favorite movies.

I'd say Russell Crowe is my current top favorite leading man.

For favorite "character actors" almost no one can touch Gene Hackman in my book. Another name that comes to mind is William H. Macy. He was unbelievably good in Fargo.

Hanks, Newman, and Redford are all very worthy additions to the list.
