The cook, the thief, his wife and her lover. A film from the late eighties. This flick had a huge amount of hype about how daring and and good it was. And when I went to see it, I did not walk out in the middle because I kept expecting something to happen and nothing ever did. Furthermore, the movie is very grisly and gruesome, and it is not a horror genre movie, the gore in this movie surpasses many, many horror movies. And it had Helen Mirren in it, who would have guessed. taraswizard

Yes, I'm reviving dead threads.

Worst movie I ever saw? It has to be Final Fantasy: The Spite Within...oh, I meant the Spirits Within. The biggest turd of a CG movie there ever was. The people behind this stinker somehow found ways to make a movie as monotonous as possible at every turn. No, it couldn't be actual human beings who were responsible for this crime against cinema. Robots must have made this movie. Then again, I have no wish to offend robot intelligence.

Anybody today who still, for whatever inexplicable reason, wants to rent this atrocity must either have very low self-esteem or genuinely enjoys masochism. Don't say you haven't been warned. I will have little sympathy as the thing sucks the very life out of you as you sit helpless before it.

And Taras, in case you're around, I enjoyed The Cook, The Thief, His Wife, and Her Lover. Thought it was pretty funny actually. In the end.

I've never seen that film, but the title is known to me, or some variant of it. Maybe there was a porno version I'm thinking of.

Cannibalism, eh? I remember having a meaty discussion with Av about that subject at some "sister site" of the Hangar's...

It was only a very minor theme in the movie...but it was the last one, so I can see how it made an impact.

The whole thing takes place in about 10 scenes in only 2 or 3 locations...very surreal...years since I watched it.
