Next to Donaldson, my favorite author is Chuck Palahniuk.

Never heard of him, please tell us somthing about him!!! And now Danlo looked in that direction, too. He remembered that snowy owls mate in the darkest part of deep winter, and so along with this beautiful white bird perched in a tree a hundred feet away, he turned to face the sea as he watched and waited.

Ahira, Ahira, he called out silently to the sky. Ahira, Ahira

Non sci-fi (Lullaby being a possible exception). Author of the book Fight Club as well as Choke, Survivor, Beautiful Monsters, and Lullaby. Pick up any of the books and if you're not hooked by the end of the first chapter...

Outside of Fantasy/SF, I would have to say that Robert Graves, and Arthur Conan-Doyle are my favorites.

I don't know how many times I've read I Claudius and Claudius the God. I had to have first read them when I was 10. More recently I read his autobiography Goodbye to All That.

I read the Sherlock Holmes stories at about the same time as I Claudius, and at least once a year I go back and spend a couple of evenings rereading some of the stories.

I don't have the patience to "read" plays, but I love to attend plays. I enjoy Shakespeare. I recently went to see Julius Caesar, and last year saw The Tempest.

I think it's my preference in writing styles - tell the truth, I'm finding it harder to read TCTC these days (a bit like LotR - each re-read was harder than the last), whereas Martin, Jordan, Williams, and some others I can keep reading over and over no problem.
