Called 'Thumb drives' or 'mini drives', they are portable removable solid state devices holding largish amounts of non-volatile memory, typically configured to plug into a USB port. Handiest gadgets introduced in the last few years. I bought a 256 MB one on sale last fall that I thought I would have minimal use of, and now I wish I had another one and/or a bigger one 512 MB would be cool. Good for storing largish video files or any really. I've got a 1GB thumb drive that I carry on my keychain for work. They issued me a 2GB one a couple of weeks ago but it's sitting unopened in the desk since I haven't come near to filling up the first one yet. <i></i> |

I carry around a 64mb one wherever I go, and since my work is pretty much exclusively in text, it's usually more than enough,but sometimes i just want more space. : Can't really justify the expense though, even though they're not too bad these days.
