Fist and Faith gave me a big peptalk today on the phone so I am gonna try to get some more read this weekend. He also spoilered something accidentally but no biggie.

Ok. I have continued reading as per encouragement but I must say that I am still not liking the book. I have gotten to the point where

Ha! Good for you. It sounds like it was a struggle. Was it worth it? And are you going to take the plunge on the trilogy? It's definitely a bigger commitment.

I ran into a similar problem with Downbelow Station (CJ Cherryh). I liked the book, but there was just something about it that wasn't compelling (maybe not the right word). It took me a freaking month to read, when I've been going through books of its length in less than 2 weeks pretty reliably.

I encourage you to read the trilogy - Danlo is very different from his father, and the tone of the books are different as a result (not quite so macho. )

Yeah, Broken God is where it starts to get really interesting. The warrior-poets are awesome.
