OK, when I graduated HS (a little over 30 yrs. ago), there were only a few books that treated Rock n' roll seriously (IOW, not like the traveling over the top freak show). One of these books was Rock Encyclopedia, originally published 1969, by Lillian Roxon, who was a native Australian. I got my first copy in 1973, and it became a constant companion for many years afterwards. (RE provided answers for questions like was Debbie Harry in a band before Blondie) Surprisingly, the book was little known at the time. AFAIK, the book is currently out of print.

Well, Ms. Roxon herself died tragically at age 41 in New york city, in 1973 due to complications of her asthma. In a B&N recently while browsing I saw published biography of her and it looked beyond merely interesting. taraswizard
