Koyaanisqatsi wasn't available at that Sling link, but I found a torrent for it (which may be better quality than a streaming vid, anyway, but I don't know). I just finished watching the movie: mesmerizing is the word. One of the most remarkable films I've ever seen. Now I really wish I had been at that Glass Ensemble event you mentioned. This film deserves to be seen on a big screen; it's like a virtuoso lesson in film photography. The time lapse sequences are stunning. I'm also immensely curious about how they got some of the shots they did. The music is fantastic, of course. The whole thing is an amazing experience - even on a computer monitor. (I didn't use headphones, btw.)

I'm going to see if I can hunt down a DVD copy of the movie. It would be awesome if they release it on Blu-ray one day, but I'd still pine for a big screen experience.

Now, I will frankly admit I don't frequent the Star Trek/Star Wars forums, so this may be old news to y'all, but I just learned about . They're coming November 1st to the St. Pete Times Forum. With gas for the drive, probably dinner, and tickets, I don't see anyway we can go.

...but it is the first symphonic event Beorn has ever shown interest and excitement about.

Bought Koyaanisqatsi on DVD today!

Never heard about the Star Wars in Concert thing until now. It sounds fantabulous, but there's absolutely no way I'd be able to go to it. Life just isn't fair sometimes. Or most of the time. We just get used to it.

For those who belong to Facebook, Naxos records has a drawing once a month for either classical or jazz box sets/goodies. We are talking prime stuff! This month features some great stuff from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

December's is a box set of ballet DVD's and such.
