As you may know, current copyright restrictions have become very restrictive of accepted and long standing fair use practices. The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) www.eff.org is a watch dog group that wishes to fairly balance the property and livelihood of copyright and intellectual property owners, and legitimate fair uses of everyone else. For example, I recently heard an interview with the folks who run Project Gutenberg, an on-going group on the internet that wishes to put all existing public domain literature into electronic format. The Project Gutenberg guys said due to recent changes in copyright law it would be at least 100 yrs before existing literature goes into the public domain.

The point of this little rant, today on TechTV Screen Savers Cory Doctorow, author of Down and out in the Magic Kingdomwas a guest representing the EFF. Cory Doctorow how great is that. taraswizard
