This terrible situation is how messed up this STUPID WAR, is making us and let us remember, please, IRAQ had NOTHING TO DO with the planes flying into the towers in 2001. This probably made the national news, and may of be only interest to the U.S. folks here, but I will restate what I know.
On the helicopters shot down the other day one was piloted by an Illinoisan from Genoa, Illinois. Now for the memorial services for this young man there was no unity, even tragedy did not help. This fellows father himself a veteran, wanted the memorial service to be military in nature; however, the mother, who BTW is very vocally opposed to the war, wanted no military trappings to the service. And early on today I had heard there would be two services, but later I heard that at least some compromise had been reached and a single service was held, with the playing of Taps being the military flourish. Furthermore, around the time of the memorial I heard the mother made some very vocal statements against the war, and blaming George W Bush personally as the one responsible for her son's death.
If even personal family tragedy can not unify, that to me, only demonstrates how stupid and unnecessary this war is. taraswizard
