I would like to say that I am surprised, but am not. There are some really crazy asshats running around out in the woods here in Michigan, and they are heavily armed.  I fear people like this a lot more than any Muslim terrorists, and feel that the average American is in a lot more danger from people like these than from foreign terrorists. |

What worries is me is how many whackos out there who see the violent terrorists among us as "heroes". Google around and you will see as many people praising that suicide bomber who flew his plane into the government building in Austin as there are condemning him.  And, of course, these same people would have been in a frenzy of fear and hatred if the same act had been made by a person of color and foreign birth and of any religion other than "Christian".  It is easy to see why there are a lot of militia groups here in Michigan. Lots of large parcels of land owned by individuals and/or groups for the sole purpose of hunting. If you are out in the country and hear gun shots - even a ton of gun shots - you just think it's a bunch of people out target shooting getting ready for the nest hunting season (or actually hunting if it is in season). And most of them are posted as private property because most of the owners want to keep any game there for private use. I have not heard, but these particular guys are probably down the road about five miles in Milan Federal Prison, along with the Christmas Day Underwear Bomber. It is the closest federal prison to where the arrests were made. And yes, it is a minimum security facility. With all of the terrorist arrests around here lately, they might have to upgrade their facilities.

Wow. Do the defense attorneys really think they're going to get away with their story? I get that good ol' boys collect guns and whatnot, but bomb-making materials? And I hate to tell them, but regular ol' explosives kill people just as dead as chemical and biological weapons do... |

I dunno, Duchess. If they're forced to wear electronic tethers, I don't think they'll be going into the woods any time soon. |
