And I am sorry Av, for throwing in the stink bomb into the health care thread at the Watch. Sometimes the basic ignorance of the people over there just irritates me.

That's what slays me - the self proclaimed majority. Hello. This law was passed by a duly elected majority party in the House and a duly elected (then) super majority party in the Senate. It was signed into law by a duly elected President who had campaigned on promises of health care reform. All of these politicians were elected by a majority in their district, state, or nationally.

So how did the minority (those who did not vote for this particular bunch of politicians) suddenly become the majority (who did vote for them) and the majority suddenly become the minority???

Or have I wandered into some alternate reality?

Well, it could be argued that some of the people who'd voted one way had changed their minds. But, fact remains it was voted on, passed, and is legal. For now.

For sure. Ronald Reagan (of all people) actually got a bipartisan health care reform into law way back in the day. It was for older people, and was to be paid for by a tax on older people. The older people wanted the benefits, but not the taxes, and the outcry was so great that the law was repealed in a year.

They did make an arrest today, for someone who made death threats to one of the Republicans in Congress. May many more arrests on others making death threats to other members of the House and Senate to legislators of both parties follow!

Duchess...or Ali... where's those posts where we were talking about the timing of the benefits? And did (one of) you post a link? I can't find the article I read it in.
