Yes, I know he was an alcoholic, but he was such a great person (otherwise) in a time when sports were kept in perspective (there I go again). I almost picked Hank Aaron because he was a great guy, not a braggart. I would loved to have seen the statistics that Ruth would have piled up as a pitcher (he was a SUPER pitcher, but was relagated to playing the outfield because of his bat).
