Opening day!!! Spring! Sunshine, fresh cut grass, linseed oil and leather I'm ready-almost ready to get back in the gym-OMG!
Put me in coach! Woo HOO!!!
downer: I haven't been following the proposed NFL lockout, on purpose, hoping it will just go away, but if football is canceled that'll make it all the more exciting to follow baseball like a mad person...
secret plans/Fantasy: I'm not trying to neglect the Hangar, but I have been in
deep secret Fantasy Baseball research. First I bought MLB Fantasy mag in February, which I thought was great at first, then, of course, horribly dated and, actually, pretty bad...then I renewed my subscription to Rotowire and started to mock draft.
BOY did I ever mock! 18 to be exact. I know every fricking player personally, from Roy Halladay to Ray Raburn. Every stat, every injury, every trend...and now who'll close and where they'll hit in the lineup.
Fantasy leagues: My first league is, actually, pretty funny...I call it the Phantom Tollbooth-the same day ESPN switched to live draft a bunch of us "mockers" entered this league by mistake--it's called New York 27180 so it's an automatic public league--I drafted a fantastic team, Gone Gonzo (featuring Carlos and Adrian) and with only 3 other guys figuring out that it really is real--should win it without much effort. My toughest league is Kinslaughterer's Ted Williams Frozen Head out of West Va.-This is our 4th year, I believe, and we had the draft last week--ESPN tells me I have the strongest team (Cyrogenic Animation) by far--but paper's paper and these guys trade like banshees. Drafting's one thing, managing's another...and I vow to figure out how to manage max innings pitched this year-that stupid little limit drizes me crazy!!!!!! I'll be watching how other teams do it like a hawk.
Hangar/Watch Fantasy League: The Clave filled itself up with
Harichai two days ago, just in time for Saturday's draft. We have 5 members from Frozen Head: My friend Mike and me from New Mexico, Kins, Issac and Chis for the West Va. area and michael (who I drafted during a mock draft) and Cleburne from England, Damelon from the Chicago area, Cybrweez from New York and sgt. null from Houston. Cosmopolitan, eh? Blood Gorgons will take NO prisoners.
I think I hate basketball: ...well, I love playing it...it can be the most zen or physical game out there, it's how you approach it. Gambling? Nah, NCAAs? Ugh!!! Pros: I'm not officially lost. Lobos: lose in second round of NIT, "experts" predict a top 25 team next year, yeah right...My brackets: Swiss cheese is prettier...Fan Ball and Draft Street: I don't follow the sport that close, would rather devote my energies to baseball-daily Fantasy is too cutthroat and too expensive--my anti-gambling factor kicked in and I couldn't do it...My blog: gone with the wind...Pros: I'll write a book in another thread...
Back to baseball: I'm beyond ready, dying to talk about players and teams---I'm teetering on the edge of changing all my pro teams and don't know what in the world to make of the Angels--but I'll talk more teams and analysis in another thread
