Haha, I was hoping Germany would come through. Didn't watch, but heard they played badly compared to the Spanish.

My son say the final is a clash between two traditionally underachieving teams.

Currently ranked 2nd and 4th in the world, so not too under-achieving...

Traditionally though, Netherlands and Spain have come to World Cups with all the players, great form etc, and have fluffed it. Not this time!

Germany v Uruguay was a great game, Germany ending up winners 3-2. It was open and exciting - I'm glad I watched it!

Germany v. Uruguay was a very good and exciting game. Man, the kids and I all screamed when that last second shot barely missed!

I must say I'm relieved that Spain came away with the World Cup. Thoroughly deserved.

It would have been a travesty if the Dutch had stolen the game after the tactics they employed.

Viva Espana!

Yeah, agreed. The Dutch played a dirty game. And on the whole, the final was pretty unexciting.

It was tense, hard fought, but definitely not entertaining for the neutral observer. The finals are often like that.

My kids tell me the third/fourth place match is usually better than the championship match - the teams have literally nothing to lose at that point, so they play a looser and more aggressive game.

We missed the final, because that was the day we left for our beach vacation. But if one team was playing a lot dirtier than the other, I am glad the dirty team lost.
