The Red Wings rode on a train for a quick trip to Karlstad for today's last preseason game against Farjestads BK. They open the regular season in Sweden against the Blues at 3PM (EDT) on Friday, with the second game in Sweden against the Blues at 3PM (EDT) on Saturday.

Well, two other superb players are Ovechkin from the Washington Capitals and Johan Franzen from Detroit. If you can get either of them your fantasy team will be blessed.

My Sabres start thier season tomorrow v. the Canadians They had a decent pre-season, which of course means nothing... Hopefully we hear very LITTLE (pun intended) from Bettmen this year GAME ON!! |

LOL Earthy!  Wings lost their season opener this afternoon in Sweden - hopefully they will win the second Sweden game, as I am off work tomorrow and can actually watch it.

Sabres lost too, crappy luck goal in overtime for the habs..... Sabres need to score - they had around 35 SOG and only scored 1...... |

The Red Wings goalies apparently rolled around in some excrement overseas, because they both stunk. Man, they need to get those two going better, or it will be one heckuva long season.

YAY! The Red Wings finally win a game! Took 'em three games to get a win this year. Our goal tending is very suspect - with Washington and Ovechkin soon to hit town!

 Johan Franzen is out for at least 4 months, and maybe the whole season with a torn ACL. Stick a fork in the Wings. They are done for the season without the Mule.

I did tell you. Between players lost because of the salary cap and the Franzen injury, the Wings have lost something like 120 goals/season and are trying to make up the difference with cheap rookies called up from Grand Rapids and cheap over the hill veterans no other teams wanted to sign. Remember - Bettman's "parity" actually means mediocrity.  The next good franchise which stands to be gutted in such a way is Chicago - they stand to face a huge salary cap hit sometime in the next couple of years.

It would be a shame if Chicago were to lose talented players like that, and so soon. It's my understanding the team went through a lot of rebuilding and the fans have only recently returned in large numbers. |
