Well, my Sabres got back on track after a woefully average road trip out west, still in first in the east!! (I think...)
gotta ride Miller, although, we beat NJ last night & Broduer (sp?) has played every game for them since November or so

Miller is awesome this year, Earthy, and I hope he wins the Vezina!

Now that most of the Wings are back - and back in game shape - the team has been playing a lot better.

Playoffs started tonight.

Of all the teams my Wings might have possibly faced, the one I dreaded the most was the Phoenix Coyotes.

The officiating is bad at the best of times, and with the League owning that team...

Sure enough, the zebras sucked tonight. I cannot argue with any of the calls they made against either team - it is the ones they did NOT make, such as a rather blatant high stick to Nicky Lidstrom's face that I am less than pleased about.

I think my Wings are not going to make it out of the first round this year - and any team facing Phoenix had better keep in mind that they will be facing two opponents in the Coyotes AND the Zebras.

I agree, NHL officiating seems flakiest at playoff time, going by my hockey memories from the '80s. I guess some things never change...

Good luck with the Red Wings! I have little sympathy for the Coyotes myself. They've been a farce from day one...and the joke keeps getting funnier - or sadder.

The Wings did not look good in game one -they got outhit and outhustled. But they made up for it in game two, when the two best defensive forwards in the league - Hank Zetterberg and Pavel Datsyuk said to heck with it and showed what scoring machines they both could be if they bothered with that part of the game. Hat trick for Hank! HUGE IMPROVEMENT over the first game.

Wings are driving us all nuts around here with their inconsistent play from game to game and even period to period.

Duchess, congrats on the Red Wings advancing to the second round! I read the game summary: a 6-1 rout of the Coyotes. Gretzky and company sink further into irrelevancy.

The Wings actually probably did not deserve to advance - in their three losses they looked horrible.

But I will take it anyway.

Tomorrow the Captain, Nicky Lidstrom turns forty. He celebrated a night early with two goals tonight.

Danlo, my Wings will play the Sharks next... Wonder if this is the year when that team finally gets it together enough for a deep playoff run?

And what in the heck has happened to the Caps? Is it the Curse of the President's Trophy?

Wow, what a comeback by the Habs! Down 3 games to 1, and they storm back to eliminate Washington!
Needless to say, I'll be rooting for Montreal in its series against Pittsburgh. I'd like to see the Habs reclaim some glory, after being in the wilderness for so long.

When I was a kid they were my second favorite team after the Wings. Still have my Habs home jersey that I bought on a trip to Montreal.
