I know it seems early, but hockey season got kicked off this weekend in Detroit, with HockeyFest! :mrgreen:

The twenty cents is, of course, in reference to Blackhaws star Patrick Kane supposedly beating up an elderly Buffalo cab driver over twenty cents in change this summer - one of many horrors off the ice that Blackhawks fans had to endure from their front office and players.

The Phoenix franchise is still in a complete mess, and it set to be auctioned off by the bankruptcy court pretty soon. Some of the wilder rumors include having them split their home games between Phoenix and Saskatoon! :shock:

Ah, now I get the 20 cents reference...I had only vaguely heard about that incident, never actually read the details.

Well I know noting about Ice Hockey but it hasnt stopped me joining 2 Fantasy Hockey leagues this year (Oh god help me ) , so any tips about stand out players I should be looking at would be helpfull :mrgreen:

Maybe it's kinda funny that I've never played fantasy hockey, even though I was really into hockey - back in the 80's. Hope your picks work out for you, Cleburne! I hardly know today's players, so I've got no tips to give.

Try for Lidstrom, Zetterberg, and Datsyuk from the Wings, and for Crosby and Malkin from the Pengiuns. Barring injuries, you cannot go wrong with any of them.

Coyotes are in bankruptcy court today and tomorrow. There are only two bidders left - the NHL itself, and the guy who wants to move the team to Hamilton. Should be high comedy when the evil dwarf, Gary Bettman, is due to take the stand tomorrow! :mrgreen:

In other news, the Detroit Red Wings came here to my workplace today, and walked around and visited all of the patients on the med-surg floors.

They had come and gone by the time my shift started, though.

I miss them every single time they drop in. :cry:

Belive it or not, the Wings have broken out of Traverse City (home of their training camp, and one of the most beautiful small cities in the US) and are ready for the start of the preseason. :shock:

Well, preseason got underway tonight with a handful of games. I know that before I can even process it, the Blues and Wings will be over in Sweden for the season opener... :shock:

The pre-season is over here in Detroit - and the Red Wings and their divisional rivals, the St. Louis Blues, are on their way to Sweden to open the regular season with a pair of games! (in fact, since I am not sure of the travel schedule in detail, one or both teams might already be in Sweden as I type this!) :sky:
