The Detroit Lions have started something new this year in an effort to sell tickets - "all you can eat" seats. If you buy one you get all the hotdogs and brats and snacks you can eat and all of the pop you can drink.

Well, at least they are not including beer or other alcohol as part of the gorge, so hopefully no puking will take place,

Bucs could rival the Lions this year in win loss record.
The schedule doesn't feature many teams that aren't head and shoulders above overall talent, payroll and coaching personel.
You never know for sure with the "any given sunday" rule but it just doesn't look good.

There's almost nothing encouraging about this years team besides what ought to be a fairly solid running game. You don't need an offensive coordinator for that.

Just saw in a Detroit newspaper that as of yesterday (Sunday Sept. 13, 2009), the Detroit Tigers have won 150 baseball games since the Detroit Lions have won a football game. And the Tigers are only a mediocre (at best) baseball team! (I would love to see the stats on how many hockey games the much higher quality Detroit Red Wings have won since the Lions won a football game).

It's kinda mind-boggling that one city should have one of the best teams in all of sport (Red Wings) and yet one of the worst (Lions). Even the Tigers - who, as you say, are mediocre now - have won their sport's championship in the past (1984, correct?). Enlighten me on the Lions' past: historically, have they had a losing record or has it only been in recent years that they've been so futile? Have they been to the Superbowl at least one time?

Wonder what other cities have both really great sports teams and really bad ones (at the same time).

The Lions have never been to the Super Bowl, but did win a couple of league championships way back in the 1950's. The Tigers most recent World Series appearance was in 2006 when they lost; their last two WS victories were in 1982 and 1968; with a sprinkling of them going back for decades before that. The Pistons have won a few championships, but our glory is the Red Wings franchise.

These things come and go however - when I was growing up the Red Wings were terrible for years on end - the infamous Dead Things Era. When they won their first Cup in the Yzerman Era, fans held up signs saying that they (the fans) could now die in peace. Who knows -if the Ilitch family tires of running the Wings they might go down, and if the Lions get a new owner they might go up!

God showered His mercy upon the Earth yesterday, and the Lions managed to win a game. Over the past twenty games they have one win and nineteen losses.

These are great! though may be mildly upsetting to some fans...
