AL: B. J. Upton and Rocko Baldelli drove in 3 runs apiece, both hit home runs and Upton's looked like it not only cleared the 'Green Monster', but the state. Evan Longoria and Carlos Pena also homer as the Ray beat Boston 9-1 to take a 2-1 led in the series. Matt Garza won giving up just 1 run in 6 innings. Today Andy Sonnanstine takes on Tim Wakefield (10-11) at Fenway.

NL: Shane Victorino is well on his way to becoming MVP of this series; he and Matt Stairs both drove in 2 runs with homers, Chase Utley had 3 hits and a RBI. Phillies 7 Dodgers 5 Philadelphia leads the series 3-1. The final game in LA is Thursday when Cole Hamels attempts to pitch Philly into the World Series against Chad Billingsley.

Last night the Rays put a huge smackdown on the Red Sox to the tune of 13-4. The Rays now lead the ALCS series 3-1. One more win and they get to the World Series!

However, in the next game the Rays will have to face Boston's great young Japanese pitcher, Dice-K.

Go Rays! Go Rays! Go Rays!

And the Phillies beat the Dodgers 5-1 to earn a berth in the World Series.

Perhaps tonight will decide the Phillies opponent in the WS. One hopes anyway.

Last night we were flicking back and forth between the Red Wings game (they lost in overtime) and the baseball game. The Rays were putting a huge smack down on teh Red Sox and it was fairly late in the game. Therefore, we thought the Rays were safe and turned the game off.

Well, the Red Sox came back from a 7-0 deficit to win the game 8-7.

So it is back to Florida we go for game six.

I'm not sure what happened to the Rays, but I suspect a Tigers style bullpen meltdown, probably because I saw so many of them this year.

Once again, just as it seems year after year, the Red Sox are on the verge of elimination and somehow manage to make a come back.

Last night they won game six with a score of 4-2 to force the Rays into a game seven.

RAYS GET IT DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With a 3-1 win in game seven of the ALCS.

It will be a Rays-Phillies World Series. Which is great, as neither team gets there very often.

Right on RAYS!!! Tampa will host game 1 of the World Series Wednesday night, pitching line ups have not yet been set. Boston took the Rays to game seven as Matt Garza pitched 7 good innings giving up 1 run to win 3-1. Evan Longoria, Wille Aybar and Rocco Baldelli drove in the runs.

Yeah we are thrilled here in Tampa Bay. Reminds me somewhat of the day the Bucs won the NFC Championship game and then went on to win the Superbowl.

This was the series that really mattered to us all. We'd certainly like to win the Series but there was nothing like the feeling we had last night.

I have been bad about keeping up with this thread.

The two teams split the first two games, which were held down in Florida, leaving them tied 1-1 in a best of seven series.

They then came north to Philadelphia, where the Phillies won game three, taking a 2-1 lead in the series.

Last night Philly blew out the Rays to take a 3-1 lead in the World Series.

I cannot speak for Rays fans, but as a Tigers fan who has endured decades of horrid teams, just having a winning team and winnign the pennant - just getting there - in 2006 was one of the thrills of a lifetime.

So hopefully Rays fans are focusing on the positive - a pennant, a winning season - rather than what is going on right now.

You've been bad? I've been bad, but Lady Tam takes precedence right now. Come on Rays with backs to the wall and game 5 in Philly tonight, stay ALIVE! You can doooooooo it!

Dam! Even pitcher Joe Blanton hit a home run joining Jamie Werth and Jimmy Rollins, Rollins hit 2 and drove in 5 runs. Philadelphia ended up winning that game 10-2.
