If you've an avid sports fan in the US thus begins the most boring time of the year. A little less than 2 months before NFL training camps open, and, once they do you go crazy dying for the regular season to begin . There is one slight interruption by the MLB All Star game, which I haven't paid attention to in 6 years (though it does still determine which league has home field advantage in the World Series).

I'm still not bored for one reason: The NBA draft tonight. Of course I'm interested in where the top three, or so, are going, but I'm more interested in whether or not New Mexico's J. R. Giddens will be chosen. From a total punk to leading the Mountain West in scoring and rebounding and cleaning up his act, Giddens follows a proud UNM line that includes Mel Daniels, Michael Cooper, Greg Howard, Luc Longley, Charles Smith, Kenny Thomas and Danny Granger.

Don't forget the Euro Cup and the Summer Olympics!!!!!

The first has had great soccer action; the second can sometimes be a joy!

And the heart of baseball season is just starting. And the teams in the AL Central are beginning to bunch up; should be a great race to the title, with even the Royals playing well and making up ground lately. The White Sox had better look in the rearview mirror, as the Twinkies, Tigers, and Royals are all making moves upwards in the standings!

With the final pick in the 1st round J. R. Giddens goes to the world champion Boston Celtics!!!!-my father would kill me if I ever became a Boston fan!

Thanks for reminding me, I completely forgot about the Olympics (probably because I'm politically pissed at China) and don't pay attn. to the Euro Cup unless Portugal is in the finals, It's Germany vs. who? I don't know.

Oh and Fresno St. won it's first ever college World Series with a 2-1 series edge over Georgia. (you better hush duchy or you'll, suddenly, find yourself co-mod here )

Yes, I think I am not alone in having really mixed feelings about these Olympics - politics are really intruding this time around, aren't they?
