It's official as of just a few minutes ago. The Rays, with a 4.5 game lead in the AL East, have won their 71st game breaking their previous all time win total of 70 games. What they do with the last 45 or so games will be interesting. I've never really considered it a possiblility but could the Rays actually win the AL East? I suppose the easy answer is: as long as they continue winning there's no reason why not.

Tigers fans got the best news since the trading of terrible relief pitcher Jason Grilli earlier this season. The worst starting pitcher in hte MLB - Nate the Not So Great Robertson has been removed from our starting pitching lineup.

That means that between him and our other huge contract leftie who is not good enough to play - Dontrelle Wills - we will be out more than $50 million a year until those contracts are over.

What a freaking joke.

I think Dombrowki and Millen has a brain transplant sometime over the past couple of seasons. The Lions actually appear to be on the upswing - the Tigers, who were in the World Series just two seasons ago, have been effectively destroyed.

The Tiger's terrible season limps onwards. My husband banned all Tigers telecasts from our home after the series down in Tampa because they elevate his high blood pressure.

So I missed the brawl the other night down in Cleveland. But everyone tells me it was 100% Gary Sheffield's fault, and that he was a complete tool.

Also, the Brewers fired their manager a week or so back, despite the fact that they are in the middle of wildcard contention and have a decent chance to make the playoffs.

So they fired their manager despite having a good season, and we cannot get rid of ours for love or money.

Wow the difference between your Red Wings posts and your Tigers! Go Angels! Most awesome record in the MLB! True, but you dogs have got to prove it in the playoffs.

I think that they will, Danlo! They are sure my favorites for winning both the AL Pennant and the World Series. Man, they look good this year. If they do not make it, I am hoping that aTOMic's Rays do. They look really good, too!

The last game has been played in Yankee Stadium. Man, I hate it when they retire historic old buildings for new ones with luxury boxes in the constant pursuit of more money. Here in Detroit we've lost Tiger Stadium and Olympia. If rumors are correct, sooner or later we'll be losing Joe Louis, too.

And yeah - you would not believe the seething rage and hatred and disgust simmering in this city among baseball fans right now. To take a team that was in the World Series two years ago and to wreck it through bad trades and bad contract extensions in two years, turning it back in the losing horrendous pathetic disgusting piece of crap franchise we've been stuck with for decades - and threatening to get rid of one of our heroes in Magglio Ordonez - a quiet and classy guy who is actually earning his money - so they can pay the absolutely worthless and untradable guys like Nate Robertson and Gary Sheffield who absolutely and completely suck and should be cut (but who were given huge multiyear multimillion dollar contact extension) - is the last straw for a lot of us.

A lot of people are saying they are cancelling their season tickets, and a lot of us who cannot afford season tickets are planning on boycotting the team next year.

Sorry to say Duchess but it will be a single defeat of the Tigers that will clinch the AL East for the Rays. As a Rays fan I'm thrilled though. We NEVER could have predicted making the playoffs let alone winning the division. Tampa Bay is thrilled and a little shell shocked but we'll get over it.

We've all been quessing at what exactly the difference is between this year and last year and the most obvious change is the fact that the Rays aren't blowing leads in 3/4s of their games. The new bullpen has really made a huge difference. And of course some outstanding defensive play. The bats have always been there.

Oh, I am expecting the Tigers to get swept by the Rays.

And nothing to apologize for! The Tigers suck!

Unfortunately, I have to go to the game on Saturday. I bought the tickets before the season started, and if I could sell them at all, it would be for pennies on the dollar. We were going to wear paper bags over our heads with "FIRE MILLEN!!!!" written on them - maybe now I will just make a poster with a huge picture if a toilet and saying thanks to Gary Sheffield, Nate Robertson, Edgar "Diarrhea" Renteria, Dontrelle Willis, and the Detroit Tigers Bullpen for all of the fond memories of the 2008 season (NOT).

It's the first inning and the Rays are already winning. I do not know if I should be laughing or crying. God, the Tigers suck harder than any Hoover.
