A great subplot in that one - wait until you read the Chain of Dogs storyline! :faint:

Now rereading Garth Nix's Lirael, second book in his Abhorsen trilogy.

Stonewielder by Ian Esslemont. Trying to get it read before Erikson's The Crippled God is released next week.

Just finished up Erikson's The Crippled God and about to embark on Patricia Briggs' River Marked, latest in her Mercy Thompson urban fantasy series. :)

Have to start rereads of GRRM and R Scott Bakker soon, though, as both have new books coming out.

Patricia Briggs happened to be at our local Borders earlier this week, and since Magickmaker had her new book on her birthday list, I stopped by to get her a signed copy. Very nice lady. Wrote "happy birthday" when she signed it, without prompting, and also drew a balloon. :D And then she labeled the balloon, and told me she felt she had to do that because she considers herself a better writer than an artist.

The best part is that Magickmaker's birthday isn't 'til next month -- so once I finish TCG, I've got time to read it before I give it to her.

Both Briggs and her husband seem to be very nice down to Earth people, from interactions i have seen between them and fans on the internet. 8) Glad to hear she is every bit as nice in real life. 8)

And as for reading the book first - :sneak:     hee hee hee

Finished "River Marked" tonight. Slower than usual, as I didn't want to take to work with me in my backpack and risk it getting beat up. Oh yeah, when Briggs did the reading, she pronounced Stefan with the emphasis on the second syllable. I've been doing it the American way in my head. Spent this book trying to say it the right way instead....

Rereading Bakker in prep for his upcoming book. On The Darkness That Comes Before.

Yes, the latest Briggs book was a bit on the slow side in comparison with her other books in that series. Not saying it was bad, just a change of pace. :)
