Truthfully...

Saddest Death:
Dobby. I never expected it. Although I too would have liked to have seen Lupin and Tonks given the dignity of seeing how they fell. I thought Sirius' death was passe in depiction; just seeing the bodies of Lupin and Tonks is beyond maddening.

I would have much preferred Percy to have gotten it than Fred. Such ample opportunity to play up the 'twin' factor with the death of one, yet nothing was done with that either. I am curious how she chose which one would suffer which fate in this book.

Character I am unexpectedly most proud of:
Neville. From the moment he showed up in the tunnel at the Hog's Head I was in awe. To bring in the bodies of the dead like that, without complaint. To have earned the respect of his grandmother finally. To pull Gryffindor's sword from the Sorting Hat. Neville Rocks!!

And I have to say, it doesn't change a thing for me.

And I work with and know many Potter fans in the fleshly world, I suppose you could call it (as opposed to the internet electronic world). Every one of them (including both of my sons) thought that Dumbledore was gay after reading Deathly Hallows. It was primarily because of that one minor character whose name escapes me, who was planning on traveling through Europe with him after school. It just struck everyone I know (including myself) that that is the closest thing to any sort of romantic relationship that we ever see Dumbledore in. Throw in lots of little things, like Dumbledore commenting on loving knitting patterns in muggle magazines (I do not recall which book that occurrred in, anymore ) and it just seemed to really add up.

Duchess, we just finished the group read of the first book over in the JKR forum on the Watch. Comments on the dissections started out strong, but slowly died off. Please, feel free to come post as you reread each chapter. We would love to have you join in.

Gotta get those movies out before they're too old to be believeable.
