I think that perhaps Danlo has also read The High House by James Stoddard...I know that I have both read and enjoyed it greatly, though I have never been able to find a copy of its sequel, The False House. It's not in the usual run of fantasy at all... The High House is an endless place, with dragons in the attic, man-eating furniture, and other very imaginative objects throughout...you could spend a lifetime wandering around it and not see everything... It is called Evenmere, and some say that it was built by God to run the universe... And a man named Carter Anderson has to become its Master in the face of an attack by anarchists, and if he fails the Universe itself might be put at risk... Very unusual and enjoyable read! I enjoyed The High House a lot, even though author's Christianity was clear. The book left me a happy and warm aftertaste which is very rare for me. The False House was good but not as good, and I had a nasty feeling the author would have lumped me with his group of villains simply because my religious beliefs, or lack of them. <i></i> |

The High House was great, tho very claustrophobic... Jormandgund RULES and the Bobby is 2 creepy 4 words! And now Danlo looked in that direction, too. He remembered that snowy owls mate in the darkest part of deep winter, and so along with this beautiful white bird perched in a tree a hundred feet away, he turned to face the sea as he watched and waited.
