What books are you hoping to read? I really want to read Nine Princes in Amber, and the remainder of Earthsea. The dead pay the debts of the living. <i></i>

There's a fine line b-tween books u want 2 read and books u have 2 read--42nately I can't see the line ! Well I want 2 read the rest of Narnia and finish LFB, I need 2 read Fall of Hyperion, Sign of the Unicorn and the Dragonbone Chair. I want 2 read Stephen Erikson, Tailchaser's Song, The Silmarillion (again) and The Dragon Waiting by John M. Ford. I am reading LW&W and A Clash of Kings--which means A Storm of Swords isn't 2 far behind! WHEW!!!

I want to start reading Robin Hobb. Everyone over at ASOIAF keeps talking about how good that writer is!
Wolflord, I had a term of Russian lit in college. War and Peace is good, but Anna Karenina is even better, IMHO.
And I want to read more Terry Pratchett.I picked up a children's book set on his Discworld, and I adored it!! Got to read more!
Amber is good! So is Earthsea!
I'll have to reread them both sometime.
Danlo, you've got to read Storm of Swords someday! You've got to meet the Red Viper! He's so cool!
And I've picked up Tailchaser's Song and the Dragonbone Chair, so I can maybe I can someday make an intelligent contribution to Earthblood's discussions! my sister, o my sister! I really want to read GRR Martin .. finish the first and read the rest of the series!!

.. mmm ... finish Neverness and hopefully read Zindell's Broken God .. since I have it and everything ..

The Amber series has had some good reviews .. so that is a book like I'd like to follow up on ..

I too have heard great things of Robyn Hobb .. another interesting project ..

I would like to try some Feist .. maybe some Janny Wurts or the stuff they did together .. heard good stuff about them too.

mmm .. currently finishing .. This Day All God's Die SRD .. so I can finally finish the Gap series .. Robin and the King .. and have just started The Black Rood, Stephen Lawhead

.. and a friend lent me Tom Shippey's The Road to Middle Earth .. but its a major tad dry .. so I am just skimming ..

mmm .. what else would I like to read .. lots more great fantasy and or sci-fi .. or good Arthurian style stuff ..

there must be other stuff too .. just cant think of it right now ..

Wow, there are a lot of books I want to read!

Some of those on my current TBR list:

Neverness

Dune (believe it or not, I have never read this)

Abhorsen, by Garth Nix, due out Dec. 15 (well, ok, I have already read the Advanced Readers' Copy, but I want to read the "official" book. )

Priestess of Avalon, by Marion Zimmer Bradley

Douglas Adams' Dirk Gently books

And I have a few books by Orson Scott Card that I bought and haven't read yet: Pastwatch, Enchantment, the rest of Maps in a Mirror (I haven't finished this huge volume of short stories yet), Treason (which my mom bought in a library used book sale and said was good - I have managed to convert the whole family to Card!!).

The next Harry Potter book, when it comes out. :">

There are others, but I'll stop at this list.

Wolflord--I started WoT, hated it. It was too predictable, and after I was a quarter way through it, I put it down for Earthsea. Further up, and further in!<i></i>

What is Neverness, who is the author? Anyone have a link I can follow? I'm just curious I've seen it a couple times mentioned in here. <i></i>

I've not read it myself, but I think it's one of the books by Zindell. Lord Danlo is a major Zindell fan, so hopefully he'll see your question and can fill you in. "What did you say to the Emperor about me?" "He wanted to know what I saw in you.I told him that you poured out honor like a fountain, all around you." "That's weird. I don't feel full of honor, or anything else, except maybe confusion." "Naturally not. Fountains keep nothing for themselves."<i></i>

Oddly enuf, if u go the 2 Falling 2 Neverness forum--and the Journeymen die topic you can learn quite alot about Neverness, if u click the banner U'll go 2 Seekers of the Ineffable Flame, which is a great David Zindell resource page. We r the only Zindell discussion board. The whole board is based on the Neverness series--my name is a major charcter in the last 3 books--my Lightship is the Snowy Owl which in the Devaki language means: Ahira! Shiny, Zindell's wirtting is almost poetic and there is alot of poetry used in the books--u would really like them!

Sounds like something I would like, too!

I'm interested about Shadowkings by Michael Cobley and The Song of Ice and Fire. I'm eagerly awaiting some more Malazan Book of the Fallen by Steven Erikson. <i></i>

Nerdanel -

Shadowkings by Brian Cobley is a decent read. Not on a par with GRRM or Erikson IMO, But better than a lot out there.

Erikson, OTOH, is the best out there, if you like much carnage, huge plots, massive character lists, battle magic etc etc

And House of Chains is just out, and having read the first half, all I can say is "Man can this guy write or what ??" I smoke Mc's, not Crack<i>Edited by: BerenCAMLOST7 at: 12/15/02 6:43:33 am

So it was Brian..?

It's good to hear House of Chains is out. My longstanding principle is to buy only books in mass market paperback, so I can get the book maybe after six months, if the bookstore around here stocks it promptly enough and in great enough numbers, unlike it did with Memories of Ice. <i></i>
