I don't think it's all that close to Narnia. There are talking animals, yes, but humans are completely absent. The series is not a religious allegory either.

Redwall is a children's series set in a world where animals have medieval technology. It can be violent and some characters may die, but the good guys are guaranteed winners. There are some clever twists, but the series gets very repetitive very fast. <i></i>

I liked Redwall, I've only read the first one, but it was interesting. Mice who can talk, kinda like NIMH, or Watership down, or Quest for the Faradawn. It's a good book, I liked the bit about the sword, and the tower, and I often think of the part about the tapestry, and the piece missing. It's good. I'll read the remainder of the series if I ever get my hands on them. I have to comment on a previous comment, I think Narnia stands alone in childrens literature. And when I mention those other three books, I'm not making a comparison between Redwall and them, as far as the quality of storytelling, just making a connection between the fact that they have animals that can talk..
