I did something I very rarely do recently. I picked up a couple of best sellers in the grocery store while waiting to have a prescription filled. They both looked like some sort of science fiction thriller.
One of them was Tyrannosaur Canyon by Douglas Preston.
Now, right from the start - this book was pure mind candy, beach reading.
But I thought it was fun.
It begins with the astronauts of Apollo 17 finding a very unique and important rock sample, then skips forward in time to become both a murder mystery and a treaure hunt set in the canyons and mountains of New Mexico and also a scientific thriller set in the Museum of Natural History in New York.
Throw in some rogue government agents and a rather nasty hired killer, and things kept moving pretty quickly, and stayed interesting.
