Disappointing. Wolfe had a couple nominations. ________________

I know Wolfe is up for a World Fantasy Award for Best Novel this year for his first rate Wizard Knight. Donaldson is also up for that award for Runes of the Earth. I would be very happy if either one of them were to win it.

Those will be announced in early November, 2005 in Madison, Wisonsin. ******************************************************

...from what I've heard and what little a read of this one in the bookstore-it deserves the award--I still want to read The Algebraist...I finished Consider Phelbas by Banks and want more! I'm reading some more Erikson right now. *****

Banks is truly a gifted writer.

I just wish his books were more readily available here in the States. ******************************************************

I`d never been to a Worldcon before and it was a great night at the awards,Dave Langford won as usual and most of the winners were very gracious as i had only read one of the nominees(Iron Council) i did`nt think it was fair for me to have voted in that catagory so i passed on voting...i think one of the highlights has to have been Charles Stross coming on stage in a kilt to accept his Hugo a brilliant writer but with absolutely no Scottish blood at all...
The SECC Armadillo was a fantastic venue btw

My contemporary reading just doesn't exist.
I don't think I've actually read anything that was listed.

I have quite a few books by quite a few of the authors...but nothing that current.
God I hate being poor.

Adios

I feel your pain. And the library rarely has anything good, and when it does, it takes sooooo long to get it. ________________

The last couple of years I've been trying to read lot of the nominated novels when they come out in paperback. It can be really difficult tracking some of them down. I would think it would be equally difficult trying to find them in the library, especially if your library is on as tight a "new book" budget as mine is. ******************************************************
