I read a couple of books many years ago that I enjoyed. But probably nobody ever heard of them. Thrice Upon a Time and Firebird Anyone? Or anyone got their own obscure books? ______________ Highdrake's mastery of spells and sorcery was not much greater than his pupil's, but he had clear in his mind the idea of something very much greater, the wholeness of knowledge. I'm sure it's not the same thing. I doubt any sequels were written to the one I read. (I don't know who wrote it either.) Two giant, aware computers at opposite ends of the expanding universe decide that they will live forever if they can prevent the contraction of the universe - Big Bang/Big Crunch/BB/BC idea. Which they indend to accomplish by some law of physics or other that negates the effect of gravity for certain masses that they perform something or other on. *Whew* Various beings go to great lengths, even at the cost of their lives, to try to get things back to normal. Would you give up your life to ensure that the universe continues to oscillate, so that the next incarnation of the universe can occur? Stuff you HAVE to find - `The Caltraps Of Time` by Doug Masson (short stories but v well-written and surreal), and `Moderan` by David Bunch, exceptionally weird and worth having. If you create a thing, its opposite is also created.<i></i> |
