I did see that post in the science fiction forum, and it makes me happy. This book was both fun and deep.
Actually, it is the only one of the finalists I have read, though I will probably someday go on to read the Robinson one, as I really enjoyed his Mars series... Our lives are the songs that sing the universe into existence.~David Zindell

OK, folks about 15 miles from me (Huntley, Illinois) is a medium sized outlet mall. One of the stores is a 'book barn' type book outlet place. overstocks of all sorta books. Well anyway, hc edition of Kiln People was there and the price was like $6.00. So it and a few others came home with me. taraswizard

I hope that you enjoy it as much as I did.
I love bookstore like that. Though they can be very dangerous to a person's budget. Our lives are the songs that sing the universe into existence.~David Zindell

I'm 40 pages in and hooked on the world. Maybe a little puzzled by the details of clay formation, implantation and manipulation..but still much fun and classic Brin form! Which I've missed in the last 3 years. And now Danlo looked in that direction, too. He remembered that snowy owls mate in the darkest part of deep winter, and so along with this beautiful white bird perched in a tree a hundred feet away, he turned to face the sea as he watched and waited.

Ahira, Ahira, he called out silently to the sky. Ahira, Ahira
