-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It's been quite some time since I've read this book, but I remember the science of it as being somewhat unusual. Take a hand axe...a new one was crude and raw...but an old one that had seen haevy used was a perfect thing of beauty...
In this book, the more an object was used, the better and better it became. Rather than being worn out, as in our world, old and heavily used things became treasures... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From many reader's reviews I've seen this must be a love/hate book...if you have a certian type of personality you'll love it, if not...I must have a pretty quirky personality cause I really dug it. And as I think I said in another thread in this forum: I had an entire day seem to go in reverse when I was 2/3 through The Practice Effect, in '87. And now Danlo looked in that direction, too. He remembered that snowy owls mate in the darkest part of deep winter, and so along with this beautiful white bird perched in a tree a hundred feet away, he turned to face the sea as he watched and waited.
Ahira, Ahira, he called out silently to the sky. Ahira, Ahira Duchess of Malfi Lady Scryer

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I enjoyed it, too -- but read it so long ago I can't remember how the physics of it worked? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It's kinda like Glory Season in a way, it feels more like fantasy-but it's not...it's wild. ***** Before, you are wise; after, you are wise.
