(Harcourt, Jan07) I've actually read three of the novels this year - which is probably an all time high for me! The Chabon and the Buckell are both very good books, well worth reading. The Haldeman is a bit of fluff and nothing particularly special. Yet somehow it keeps coming up on all of these award ballots and "year's best" lists. On the other hand, there is nothing particularly bad about it. either. _________________ Our lives are the songs that sing the universe into existence.~David Zindell Alan Pilot Joined: 25 May 2003 Posts: 94 Location: York, UK Posted: 22 Feb 2008 09:27 Post subject: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As usual, I've not read any of them. I have, however, seen one of the nominees for screenplay, and read one Norton nominee. Probably not the same one as Murrin... _________________ Duchess of Malfi Lady Scryer Joined: 17 Nov 2002 Posts: 5975 Location: Michigan, USA Posted: 24 Feb 2008 23:24 Post subject: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm not even sure what the Norton Award is for...? But yes, I have read one of those, too. I think it is the same one as Menolly - and that would be Harry Potter? _________________ Our lives are the songs that sing the universe into existence.~David Zindell Alan Pilot Joined: 25 May 2003 Posts: 94 Location: York, UK Posted: 25 Feb 2008 05:11 Post subject: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Norton's an award for young adult fiction. And yeah, Harry Potter's the one I've read. |
