Here are a couple of links to www.sfsite.com best book lists for 2003.
It's an interesting mix of masters of the genre, such as Gene Wolfe and Dan Simmons, and some new comers.

Very cool. I was a little surprised to see Diary by Palahniuk (pronounced Paula-Nick) on the list. I consider him sci-fi as much as I do Vonnegut, which is to say, not really unless you think about it. I wouldn't have rated it higher than Wolfe's book, though. I thought Diary was probably Chuck's weakest book so far, but still...

I guess I'll have to check out some of the others on that list. ________________

Locus the monthly magazine that covers the business and publishing side of the Sci Fi world; nevertheless, it's an excellent magazine. It hasmany reviews and news about upcoming books to be released, news about the big cons, and ads from the publishers for new books. www.locusmag.com Well, these folks have put on the web their 2003 recommended reading list www.locusmag.com/2004/Iss...ading.html This link will take you right to the list. On the list of some note Elizabeth Moon's The Speed of Dark, which I read and posted about in this forum, William Gibson's Pattern Recognition, that has a thread in this forum. I have even read a couple of the short stories.

Note lets rename the thread since it is not just for the sfsite list. taraswizard

Actually the topic you seem to be hinting towards should be the 1st stickied one in this forum: Gen. Sci-Fi messages, links, conventions etc... That might be a better place. But lets not get nitpicky. That might be between duchess, you and Syl... *****

I went ahead and changed the title. I left it a bit open-ended so in case anyone else runs into any year's best lists, they can be added. ******************************************************
