I've always thought that was the best way to read any series, but Dune especially. I find the later ones don't have the impact if they're read alone.

I suppose that in theory it's my turn. but I've just dropped in to say that I might be scarce for the next few days, my mother had a serious heart attack today, so I'm running back and forth from hospital etc. Looks like she'll be fine though.

So if you'd like to take the next chapter, be my guest.

Will be back when I can. Maybe by tuesday.

Thanks. Looks like she'll be alright, but it was serious. Not 100% clear yet, but should be ok.

So you taking the next chapter?

I only just read this -- Avatar, I hope your mother is doing well!!!!!!!!

How about if Spacemonkey takes the next chapter (12) and I will do the chapter after that (13). Then we can back to roatation. That should give Avatar a week or so to concentrate on his mother? ******************************************************

Thanks guys. She's still in ICU, but hopefully things are ok. She's taking a while to stabilise though.

Anyway, yeah, please don't mind me, I'll do one when I've got the opportunity.

Hey, that's fine! My younger son and I have both been pretty sick from allergies ourselves the last couple of weeks, so I completely understand!

Feel better!! And take as much time as you need!!

Whenever you've got the chance. (I'm back. )

Still going to be hectic for a while though I'm afraid.

However, on a more positive note, I managed to find Chapter House Dune this weekend, giving me incentive to read the others leading up to it now.

(As far as I'm concerned, this means we can dissect the full six books now. )

Nice to have you back, Av.

Duchess and spacemonkey, hope you two are feeling better.

So it's basically just the four of us dissecting Dune with an occasional cameo by Highdrake, eh?

All six, Av? I had planned on following the group read only as far as the original novel. Not sure if I have the desire to join in for all the subsequent books, but we'll see.

A minor quibble about this Dune dissection forum: maybe I'm just being a neatness freak, but I wish the group read didn't have other topics inserted within it. It makes the dissection look a little scattered or unfocused. That's why I like the way the Chronicles group read is set up at KW: contained within its own dedicated space, free of outside "contamination."

Okay, maybe that was a bit more than a minor quibble, but I'm certainly not interested in launching a protest campaign.

Haha, I'd love to be able to have them all together. Not sure it can be done though, or if we can have a sub-forum for just the dissection threads. Will have to ask danlo.

Yep, essentially it's just the four of us. And no worries, you only have to participate as much as you like. If you want to bow out after book 1, that's fine.
