Didn't like either the movie or the one miniseries I saw. (Dune.) Duchess tells me Children of Dune was much better, but I remain sceptical...just don't see how something that scope can be faithfully recreated. (Of the whole series I mean, not just CoD.

I did not see either miniseries on tv, as they showed them at night when I am at work. So I watched them on dvd. I was really surprised at how much nudity there was in Dune when I watched it, especially given that it was not origianlly shown on a premium channel (such as HBO). I mean, bare bosoms all over the place. Then I found out that I had the director's cut. I still have not seen whatever they showed on tv. Obviously, there must be added scenes for the director's cut. I do not know if this is a good thing or a bad thing.

The actress who played Alia on COD was pretty good. And they handled the Leto transformation pretty well, I thought.

I greatly prefer the Dune Miniseries to the Dune Movie, for many, many, reasons. I feel that, in whole, despite the bad acting, and the short cuts they took, it was a more 'faithful' rendition of Dune. I think that, had FHerbert lived to see it, he would have prefered it, too.

As to Children of Dune, I swear to God, I love that miniseries. Don't read the spoiler text unless you are of great intestinal fortitude, have atleast a base +18 Fort Save, or want to know exactly how screwy my mind is. If you chose the last option, you should be warned that the DC of the Will Save is 230.

The main problems I have with CoD Miniseries is the points where it "unneccesarily" (for reasons of budget) diverges from the book.
