I've been reading and re-reading God Emperor of Dune as I listened to Sandworms of Dune, and something struck me the other day that I had not considered before. Leto at one points mentions that he wrote histories under assumed names. One of the greatest histories he wrote was under the nom de plume Noah Arkwright. Does anyone else find it funny that, according to the story, Noah was an Arkwright, or even funnier that aside from Leto, only Bene Gesserit Reverend Mothers could possibly know who Noah was? |

Of course, since the BGs would have at once noticed the name, they could have identified the book as having been written by Leto II himself. I wonder if he did it expressly for that purpose. |

I often feel that the background hinted at in the little quotes hints at a much more complex world behind the story. (Which is obviously the point of the, but I'd love to see that world better. ) --A |
