Has anyone else had trouble getting passeded this book?
I'm embaresed to say that I've yet ti actually finish the series because I've never been able to get passed Children...

Has anyone else had trouble getting passeded this book? I'm embaresed to say that I've yet ti actually finish the series because I've never been able to get passed Children...

I gotta admit that it's not my favourite, although it is an important story in its own right, not only in terms of Maud'Dib's son Leto, but for the torment and fate of Alia, Paul's sister. St Alia of the Knife. If you haven't finished it I won't spoil it.  But yeah, it's a tough one to get through (but maybe not the toughest.
The next book is truly mind-blowing. Children starts 12 years after Paul's death, IIRC. God Emperor starts 3,000 years later. --A |

The miniseries is actually fairly well done, so you could also watch it instead.

I only have good memories of reading Children of Dune. Too bad it didn't grip you, Balon, but it's not the end of the world if you don't continue with the series. After all these years, I still haven't read Chapterhouse: Dune. The Dune universe isn't the easiest place to get to know, that's for sure. |
