In Hard Case Dan Simmons introduced us to Joe Kurtz, a hard boiled private detective who had just gotten out of prison for killing the murderers of his partner. In the course of that novel he experiences the streets of Buffalo, New York, as winter comes...and gets himself embroiled with the Mob...

In Hard Freeze Joe's problems continue...he is still having problems with the Mob and now he has been hired to track down a serial killer who preys upon children by the father of one of the murderer's victims...a killer whom none of the authorities have been able to find...and Buffalo's brutal winter is here...

More detective noire from a master of many genres... Our lives are the songs that sing the universe into existence.~David Zindell

And don't forget that HARD AS NAILS, the third Joe Kurtz novel, is out now in hardback...or will be very soon!
